Functional Trainer - A Question

I detest the label Functional anything. Everything is functional. Lets get real and think about what we are doing. Take a look at the picture on the left and decide how you will train someone to prepare to get in that position? That is what it is all about. It is doing what you have to do to get the job done regardless of the population. The body, gravity and the ground interact the same if you are an athlete or a grandma.

The guy lunging for the ball or the guy in a vertical single leg stance. :)

Totally agree. Looks like they are playing a version of 2 v 5 in a circle or something similar in a warmup.

With that said, other than some single leg balance, multi-reach lunges, single leg squats, what else would YOU do in answering your question?
