Causes of American Sport Decline

Isn’t it interesting that now that there are no Americans left in Wimbledon that everyone is wondering what has happened to American tennis. Nick Bollettieri is quick to chime in with his solutions. Two week ago it was what’s wrong with American soccer and Bruce Arena was quick to chime in with his comments. Before that that it was David Stern, commissioner of the NBA on the lack of fundamentals in American basketball. There is a common thread here. There is an old saying that you cannot solve a problem by seeking solutions from those who created the problem! Guys take a look in the mirror.

And guys stop reading your own press. Your peers will let you know how good you are.

I will choose to take a different road on this. While Nick, Bruce and David have their faults in their own respective sports they are not the cause of the demise of the American Athlete nor their own sports. All sports are bigger than any one person and always will be much like the President gets too much credit/blame with how the USA is doing.

I would prefer to blame lazy kids with video games, minimal PE programs in schools, kids wanting to get jobs (instead of sports) to make spending $$ and broken American families to blame for much of our Athlete problems. How many kids even know who Nick, Bruce and David are?
