What does this mean?

Yesterday I was searching for some information for a project when I came across this on a university’s strength and conditioning site:

Philosophy:
Linear/Undulating Periodization
Olympic-style Weightlifting

What exactly does this mean? Is this philosophy? This remands me of the coach who told me his philosophy was to train the “Big Three.” I always thought a philosophy was an underlying belief.

You know, Vern, there are only two S & C philosophies: The HIT philosophy and the OWL philosophy. And they are not really philosophies, they are weight room religions, with their respective prophets, disciples and product lines.

And in a religion, one ususally isn't compelled to question or investigate the rationale behind the dogma. You just have faith and know your side is the "right" side, and follow your leaders and sacred texts to the promised land.
