The Functional Path is a path that had been traveled many times before but had fallen out of use in favor of smoother paved roads that promised faster and easier results. Seeking to follow and better define the functional path is a continuing journey, fortunately it is a journey that many have traveled before. Functional Path training is getting back to the basics of movement. It is learning to tune into the body and it’s inherent wisdom to produce rhythmic flowing movement.

Do you think that title IX has had an effect on the health issues in the US today? I mean, you cut sports at the next level. Leaving only the big name sports, and limiting participation by those who may not succeed in say, basketball, may may very well be a great wrestler or gymnast. What does this do? Reduces motivation and overall want to be active. I just wonder how many this has affected in this regard?
Standardized testing and the ever dwindling K-12 education dollar; need more time in the classroom to prepare for the tests so cut PE...budgets are tight so cut PE, are the main culprits of our lack of exercise in this country and the resulting healthcare issues.
Just my opinion...could be wrong.
kp...No, I would agree you assessment is the main problem...just that outside PE and school, what did we do when we were younger? We played different sports and tried to excel at them, with the decreasing amount of wrestling, gymnastics and other "lower level" sports, it takes them out of the public activity eye and puts the attention on mainstream sports, whcih not everyone excels at or enjoys. But overall, you are deadon.
