Respect

Some clarification of the Where’s the beef? Posts. Difference of opinion is healthy and good. I respect Mike Boyle, although I do not always agree with him. He has earned his way and paid his dues. He has produced as a coach. It is people like that that I respect. They have earned respect, hopefully I have done the same.

I respect speakers the most that have a timeless message including their tapes and books. Some I look for a dangling carrot because things are not necessarily timeless.

This coach loves what he does and is a great man (Mike Boyle) If you ever have a chance to visit his facility in Winchester Ma. very "old school" no crazy expensive equipment. Just hard work,,sweat, grit and lots of passion. Kids working out next to pros where else can you get that? I feel work-out coach's sometime get a bad rap, due to a few really bad apple i.e. drug pushers and hacks

When sometime these (great coachs) play a intrical part in creating a sound, positive, healthy enviroment. And I never hear an athlete hold up a trophy and thank that coach. I think at the end of the day great coaches have the same outlook, no matter if it's with family, friends, players or teams, bringing out the best. Sometimes KINGDOLLAR may get in the way. The path may be different but the destination is the same.

Mike does give credit to his mentors he agrees and dis-agrees. It's good that you guys stay on top of each other. My 3 cents ts.

I use to believe that I could train/coach an athlete the same way I would my non-athletic client. Seening the benifits of exercise as science, exercise, eat right, rest, educate, live a better life. I could'nt imagine if science found that playing the violin for 30 minutes a day everyday helped with me live longer (some may aruge it does) but I am really bad at playing the violin and I really dislike it. The point; these big players need to be careful when entering the non athletic minded arean. Yes exercise is important but it's one tool, getting to know the client on a personal level is very important. And can't be done with a blanket program. IF GARDENING IS THEIR SPORT, TRAIN THEM FOR IT DON'T KNOCK IT! The reality is exercise is movement. We stop moving we stop living. ^
