Progression

Lately I have seen progression and protocol used interchangeably. They are not the same, progression is criteria based, movement though a progression is based upon meeting various criteria at each stage, this is the key. It is not a protocol; this implies set steps that pass from one stage until the next. In progression everyone dos not spend the same time on each step. Passage through a progression is based on mastery of the each step. Also everyone does not have to start at the same place. It depends on the level of proficiency starting out. Let’s not forget progression from year to year. You do not have start over each year; you must build upon the previous year.

Is it a bad idea to really push the next progression to get through a training/rehab plateau or are plateaus the result of not properly going through the progressions or just the bodies own reaction to repeated stimulus?
