As they say a picture is worth a thousand words!
The Functional Path is a path that had been traveled many times before but had fallen out of use in favor of smoother paved roads that promised faster and easier results. Seeking to follow and better define the functional path is a continuing journey, fortunately it is a journey that many have traveled before. Functional Path training is getting back to the basics of movement. It is learning to tune into the body and it’s inherent wisdom to produce rhythmic flowing movement.

We have a lot of these store front personal training places by us. They put you through a 10 station hydrofitness circuit, the last machine being next to the exit door so you can reach the door knob without having to stand up. If you lose 10lbs. you get your photo pasted in the window on the bicep curl machine.
It is amazing how many of these places cater to women in my area. They come to me with pains they never had before "working out".They tell me how much stronger and better they feel but yet can not state 1 thing they can do now that they could not do before. When you mention they are not training to improve function they usually look a bit dumbfounded until you ask them to do some leaning towers in multiple planes and then they usually know what you mean.

The problem of fast fitness is not only a problem in th US... unfortunatly we also have it in Europe. In Portugal there is a recent net of "fitclubs" that promisses health and all kind of physical benefits with just 30 minutes of circuit exercise. And the problem is that it's becoming really popular...
Working in the" Franchised Fitness World" is a great way to learn, what not to do. They rip the soul out of the art, they just want to make $$ MONEY.
