Don't Lose Your Compass

To help guide us on the functional path we need good navigation tools. A sound training plan is like a good road map, but to make the map (the plan) effective we need to be able to stay on course. The first step is to know where you are on the map. Once that is determined then the compass comes into play. With the compass you can orient the map to true north. With true north known now you can navigate. The compass helps to keep you on course. At times you will wander off course, but with a good map and knowledge how to use the compass you will be able to get back on track. If you don’t have a compass the map can be relatively useless. In coaching the compass is your philosophy of training. That is what guides you and keeps you on track. I know the times when I have lost or misplaced my compass the training was very chaotic. Get a good compass and use it. It does not have to be fancy, but it must pragmatic.
